The History of BORIS

The Support Office for the Movement of Self-Help Initiatives BORIS began operating in 1992 to support the establishment and development of non-governmental organizations.

BORIS was founded at the initiative of:

• The Warsaw Voivodship Centre for Social Welfare
• The Stefan Batory Foundation
• The Foundation for Poland
• The SOS Social Assistance Foundation
• The Information Office for Foundations and Associations (BIFIS)
• The Foundation for Social and Economic Initiatives (FISE)
• The Data Bank of Non-government Organizations KLON/JAWOR

In 1999, BORIS changed its legal status and is now formally an association. Our 10th Anniversary was celebrated in 2003.
